Dry Eye and Blepharospasm

The video linked below is based on two presentations made by Dr. Charles Soparkar at the 25th Annual International BEBRF Conference and Scientific Symposium held in Jacksonville, Florida, August 24-26, 2007. The two presentations were entitled "Dry Eyes: Increasing Importance" and "Next Generation Dry Eye Therapies".

This video is an experiment in that we have not presented information on the BEBRF site in this format before. Whether we present additional information in video in the future will depend upon the response of people who use this site.

Facts about the video
  • The video runs for 41 minutes
  • The video file is 237 MB in size so it will take approximately 12 minutes to download via a high-speed Internet connection. However, it will stream which means that it will begin playing within a few seconds of the download commencing. Provided that your Internet connection downloads faster than the video runs, it should play smoothly without halting.
  • If the video stops and starts, hit the pause button and do something else for a while until the video downloads - the time required will depend on the speed of your Internet connection.
  • The video will play in the latest versions of Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari and Opera.
  • Javascript must be enabled for this site.
  • The Adobe Flash Player must be installed on your computer. If you don't have Flash, it can be downloaded/installed from the Adobe site
  • The default display size for this video is approximately 410 x 340 pixels. If you are using a monitor set at a high resolution, the image may appear excessively small and you may wish to switch to full screen display size. To do this, right click on the image and select "Go Full Screen".
  • Those of you who have seen the DVD available from BEBRF will notice that the resolution of this video is not as good. The reason is simple. The DVD video is 3 gigabytes in size which would take at least four hours to download on a high speed Internet connection. Compressing the file reduces it to a manageable size but at the expense of reduced resolution. However, note that the text is not readable in some slides even in the DVD version.
  • We can not offer technical assistance with getting this video to run but we would like to get a feel for how many people can vs can not watch the video. Use this feedback link to report.
