I finally found time to really research my problem with my dr. not getting paid from Medicare to give me my shots. I received by Medicare Summary for my shots in March and sure enough, they refused the dr.'s treatment ($450) but paid on the 60 units of Botulinum ($510)....how does that make sense? I called Medicare and they said Oklahoma had just signed on with a new Medicare provider and they didn't have "the code" (64612-50) for the payment of the treatment in their contract with OK. Medicare said I needed to talk with my dr's office about providing more information about the necessity for my treatment. I called my dr's office and they have someone working on this problem. I called her and she has been in contact with this new company and is working at getting it straightened out. She said she hopes to have it put in the contract with OK in a few weeks. I don't get anymore shots until June so hopefully it will be payable by Medicare by then. Anyone on Medicare in OK should be having the same problem. Of course, June 1, 2008, all dr payments by Medicare for anything will be reduced by 10.6%. My husband has Alzheimer's and prostate cancer (both are under control at present), but we don't need any reductions, that's for sure. Just wanted to update everyone on my problem...
