Edit
Re the pain topic, the other thought that I had was to ask if you know how experienced your current injecting Dr is with Botox injecting. How long has she been doing it? How many patients do they treat? What size of needle do they use - smallest possible is least painful, so it's worth asking about that also. The more experienced professionals seem better at injecting with less discomfort, it seems. Many of us have seen several different Drs before finding the right one for us.

As I've NOT had surgery, take my input with a grain of salt, and wait for more responses from folks who have, or who have investigated it deeply, even if they have not done it yet. But what I can do is summarize from memory what is contained in many posting on this bulletin board about the subject. This is not comprehensive, but from what you have explained above, I would guess this will help you understand a bit more about it. I hope others will add to this or correct anything I say that is not quite right. So:
* There are quite a few people on the board that have had myectomy surgery - the main procedure that seems to be done for us blephros.
* There is a spectrum of success from the surgery, ranging from excellent as per the response you already have above, to some that are only partially effective.
* Here's the bad news: many of those that have the surgery do have to go on getting Botox shots after surgery. The amounts may be less, but the prick of the needle is the same.
* The main page of this web site comments on this topic also – find the reference to surgery there.
* I’ve also put in a link to the paper by Dr. Anderson on Apraxia, for which surgery can be a solution. This paper will give you a lot of background on what the surgical process is about.

Hopefully some others that have had the surgery will respond, or perhaps email you directly

Again, hope that helps fill in a few of the blanks.

Peter
