Hi there, I really can sympathise with you - my life has been on hold for the past year too. I am also in nursing - I work as a community midwife but at present am having to work in the hospital antenatal clinic due to being unable to drive. Ihave to say that work have been very good with me and I can more or less carry on where I am now until I am sorted out. However I really miss my old job and I feel like I dont really belong anywhere. I havent driven now for 7 months and it is terrible it is so isolating. I am not ready to sell my car though so my husband drives both cars to keep it running. I am unable to take my children out for the day anywhere other than into the nearest town on the bus which is very expensive. My children have had to grow up fast - my 13 year old daughter does lots to help me. If they had been any younger I just do not know how I would cope. But in spite of all this I am still fighting this condition and am determined that I will come out the other side. I have asked for a new consultant but almost everyone on this board has gone through several doctors before finding a good one. The good thing for mme is that although I desperately want to get back to my old job the change of role has given me a chance to update my knowledge of different aspects of midwifery and I have also been asked to be a local coordinating midwife for a big national research project - so to every bad thing there is a positive side. Please try very hard to fight this and remember to stay positive, I wish you all the very best, Dawn |
