My dentist is an intriguing guy, with academic and practical qualifications, a frequent presenter at Dental conferences, and an ex high official of assorted dental associations, and so on. He, unlike other medical practitioners I have dealt with (apart from my cardiologist), has shown a great deal of interest in my bleph, my ptosis crutch etc. So I asked him about the cures and treatment as per the videos I listed above. His response was very interesting, and I quote part of it below: "Hi Peter, Thanks for the info, it was very intriguing. I am familiar with what Dr. Sims is showing. The origin of this treatment goes back to the NJ Dental Research Institute in the 60’s. Dr. Harold Gelb was the originator of the appliance. Harold used to show how this appliance would change even arm strength. Harold was associated with NYU School of Dentistry where he tried to legitimize his appliance. Since I was exposed to this back in 1967, it has been some time ago. Although I haven’t heard of Harold’s passing, his son now practices in NY probably in his father’s office. You might be able to Goggle his name. The appliance was known as a MORA appliance and is worn over the lower teeth. It can open the bite anywhere from a quarter inch to 3/4s of an inch. It was used to treat a plethora of diseases/problems. It has been altered in its design by different dentists over the years in an attempt to improve results for different patients. Academia has been somewhat skeptical since dentistry is based more on scientific method. “ Evidence based Dentistry”. One cannot refute these results but one cannot explain why they work on some and fail on others. We also know that scientific discoveries happen most times by observation of results and then an explanation is researched and found. I thought it interesting how they blocked out the appliance in the video. The Tourette’s syndrome cases were even more interesting. " I'll end the quote there as the rest of his email did not relate to this topic. I did Google Dr Gelb, and found assorted references to his work including some comments from users of his MORA device. I then Googled MORA, and that takes one into a whole other realm of work, not related to this, but the following link might intrigue TomSpasm: http://www.oirf.com/recinstr/mora-pait.html
