you're so right! I've found the same thing about doctors taking you seriously, and not treating you as if you're ignorant. I don't know if I'm part of the terminology problem, but I'll try to be more aware.

When I first got here 8 years ago, many of the doctor articles on the BEBRF website were over my head. It has helped me to open a second tab, and whenever I encounter a new medical term, I jump to the second tab and type into google the term plus the word "definition." You'll often get a more clear, concise explanation than if you just googled the term itself. Like Nelson said, in that case you end up on a page with 10 additional terms you don't understand!
