Fumes and spasms

I was having a fairly reasonable day today - some spasms, minor double vision, but nothing slowing me down much. Then we had to go visit a cabinet maker's factory. There, the fumes from the stains, varnish and paint were quite noticeable - and within a few minutes I was off the air with spasmming closures, almost constantly. My wife knows my spasm patterns well and commented on how unusually bad it had been in there. Fifteen minutes after leaving, spasms back to "normal". Anyone else experienced this phenomenon?
