Edit
Is anyone else watching MasterChef this season? There is a blind woman who has earned a spot in the top 9. Among other things, she single-handedly prepared, cooked, and presented a live crab in one of the challenges. I am totally amazed by her abilities, and don't know how she does it, but there you go. It's attainable.

Judy posted awhile back about, "What can you still do?" That was a good discussion. Feel free to share along those lines again if you like. I would also like to ask: What tricks have you learned for independently doing routine tasks during times of visual impairment?

Here's a couple very simple ones to start: I stick my finger an inch into my glass so I know when to stop pouring a beverage. My preferred coffee syrup is in a different location in the kitchen from the rest of the family's. (I still haven't figured out how to measure toothpaste onto my toothbrush while impaired...any suggestions?)
