Edit
That's very encouraging to hear, Carol, thanks!

I am just anxious that it's been "bad days" for so long. But it is true, too, that once I get home, I can resume my meditation, Wahls diet, etc. which I am doing only piecemeal here.

Also, I will be more relaxed back in my home environment. My parents are really kind, loving, wonderful people, and they are totally sympathetic, understanding, and supportive about BEB. And they try as hard as they can to help me relax here. But for various reasons, it's hard.

One reason: I have our two small dogs with me. Both are "rescues" with some bad habits, such as getting into garbage, grabbing food left unguarded on a table, and occasionally running around wildly. At home, we arrange things to minimize problems, but here, the only answer is to keep both dogs on leashes all the time, which makes life complicated. (I have put them in a bedroom for awhile a few times to get a break, but they bark nonstop, and once a neighbor complained about the noise.) Worst of all, one of them bit my dad the other night--more scratch than bite, thank god, but I have to be SURE he has no chance to do worse.

The dog problem contributes to a larger problem---my feeling that I should (and would LIKE to) be helpful to my parents when I am here visiting (perhaps doing some driving for them, helping with errands and chores, making some meals, etc.) but between BEB and my dogs, I am unable to help and instead am creating an extra burden. (Though my parents insist my presence is wonderful, the dogs are no problem, etc).

But tomorrow my husband will get here for a few days, which will be great! He will have to spend a lot of time working on his computer and can keep the dogs with him during that time, which will free me up to help my mom in the kitchen more and so on.

In any case, despite the problematic aspects of this visit, it has been really nice to see my dear parents. And it's clear that THEY don't mind that I am not helping more---both just hate seeing me troubled about the dogs and/or my inability to be helpful. So I am going to try hard to relax and enjoy the rest of the visit, and not worry about whether my eyes will recover their former level of BEB once I get home.
