Hi, Tanya-
Thanks for sharing.
I hope you continue to have great eye days!
I had a migraine specialist physician who briefly put me on a very low dose of nortriptyline because he thought it would greatly help my light sensitivity. I was on it for just a few weeks, and my spasms were horrible. I can relate! It was scary.
Zoloft and nortriptyline work very differently - it's interesting that they caused spasms for both of us. I wonder if there are others who have noticed worsened blepharospasm symptoms with either SSRI's or tricyclic antidepressants.

Have you contacted the BEBRF to ask for the list of drugs that may cause Dystonia (tardive dyskinesia)? I see nortriptyline on the list, but haven't found Zoloft on that list. Maybe it needs to be added to the list. On a website, I found Zoloft listed as a possible cause for tardive dyskinesia. This is the link: http://www.brainandspinalcord.org/legal/tardive-dyskinesia/medications.html
I don't know how reliable the site is or how current the report is, but I know it was 2009 or later.
I think quite a few of the drugs that are prescribed to us can have side effects that are not good for us.

There is a list of drugs to avoid in the BEBRF "blue book" which you can download at http://www.blepharospasm.org/blepharospasm-publications.html

I checked the link but am having trouble finding the specific area where the list is at. It's probably just me ... but is someone able to help me hone down the area where I should look?

It's in the BEBRF blue book - which is the first item you can download from the link page. It's a PDF format document.

Downloadable publications in PDF form
Benign Essential Blepharospasm, Meige and Other Related Disorders. Information for patients and their families (aka blue book - as of 2012) (299 KB PDF) http://www.blepharospasm.org/blepharospasm-blue-book.pdf
