Same! I'm in Canada and our pharmacies here don't even seem to have heard of this product. I even checked with a Pharmacist friend and he's never heard of Zytaze. I suspect that the easiest may be to order from the drug's official website at http://www.zytaze.com/ but I'm not sure how the pricing compares. |

A BIG thanks for the suggestion of going directly to the website. Even with shipping it was much less than at the pharmacy and arrived within 4 days. Unfortunately, it was too late for this round of injections---but I have it for the next! |

Beth, Did you send in your prescription to the website, or did your doc fax it to them? Also, can you say what your approximate cost came to? Also, how did it help you when you tried it before? Thanks. Diane Modified by diane48 at Fri, Jan 18, 2013, 14:03:32 |

I had my prescription filled for it at Costco. It was not in stock, so it was ordered, with no problem. 5 blister packs of 2 capsules each, to be taken 4 days before the injections, with the 5th day being the day of injections. I will be trying Zytaze for the first time for my next appt. It was expensive, paid full price, as it's not covered by my insurance. $66.00. Even though Costco has been the cheapest for all my meds. And you don't need to be a Costco member to use their pharmacy. |

When I purchased mine I bought the two ingredients.
Phytaze and Zinc. Phytaze had to come from Canada (I did have to wait about three months as they were out of it) the Zinc came from US. For about $60 I had enough for the full year.

Norm, Can I ask you the dosages of Phytaze & Zinc you purchased? Also, how many injection cycles of that combo have you been through, & did the combo work the first cycle, or over the course of the next few cycles? Guess I'm curious how the effects are noticeable, & whether the benefits include extended duration of the neurotoxin, & the lessening of dry eye? Thanks. Diane |

Hi Diane, My Phytase (that's how it is spelled on the bottle) is in a 1500 PU/grams (they're from Canada) each and it says to take 2.
I take one of each twice a day for about 5 day before and about 3 days after. (generally this is what I take as I'm not totally faithful)LOL I'm on dysport so it may be different than botox. Botox made my eyes horribly dry. Dysport doesn't. Botox didn't seem to give me the relief that dysport does. Duration with botox was small and dysport seems longer. I have had 5 rounds of injections using the Phytase and Zinc.
I have always said that this disease has it's roller coaster ride between rounds. Each set it different. I have also reduced my stress level in the past 3 months a lot.
Thanks for asking,

Norm, Thanks for your helpful comprehensive reply. I agree it's a roller coastal ride between rounds, & that each injection set is different. Your dosage quote & regimen sent me back to the literature that came with my $60 Zytaze blister pack of 10 capsules. "Two capsules daily for four days prior to & on the day of injections." Each capsule contains Zinc Citrate 25 mg & Phytaze 500mg. I like your longer regimen of taking 3 days after injections, compared to the last dose being on the day of injections. I'm definitely trying your alternative route after I use my Zytaze pack for the next set of injections. Diane |

I once went to the ZYTASE website and got a list of the ingredients; quantities and the type of zinc used. (Zytase is mostly the enzyme phtase and a type of zinc) I've been lazy to do it, but have wanted to duplicate what is in ZYTASE with separate zinc, phytase (etc) supplements obtained from a Whole Foods (or other supplement) store... at less cost than buying the ZYTASE. My doc said the idea behind zytase is that the phytase enzyme helps some patients pick up zinc.. that zinc helps some patients with their botox.
