I have a question from a patient about using Linurase instead of botox. Has anyone heard of linurase? When I checked
it out, I learned it is a serum that naturally combines anti-aging skin care ingredients to combat the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. It also mentioned using it in conjunction with Botox and fillers as a deterrent for further signs of aging. So I am presuming it is not a substitute for botox. Joanne Matuzas, San Diego, CA |

Joanne, Linurase is one of several wrinkle treatments that use AH-8 as a component. AH-8 has been tested in a trial an NIH and results were sufficiently positive that they were planning a follow-on trial with a stronger formulation to see if that moved the results from "promising" to "statistically significant". It seems some of those in the trial had quite good results in terms of spasm/blinking reduction. AH-8 weakens the muscles so the theory is that if it can be shown to be effective it could replace injections. Details of the current clinical trial are at: http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT01750346 Related link: AH-8 cream for BEB - clinical trial |
