Edit
Jann,

Have you ever been tested for auto-immune disorders? These disorders respond well to prednisone. Specifically, Sjogren's affects the eyes, and many with Sjogren's have very dry eyes that leads to blepharospasm. The test for this is a blood test - though many have a negative blood test, but still have Sjogren's. Sjogren's also cause joint problems in some, and dry mouth. Something to think about if no one has considered this before given your dramatic response to prednisone. Sjogren's and thyroid issues often co-exist. A rheumatologist is the type of doctor to see for this possibility - though your regular doc can order the preliminary blood tests, including an ANA, sed rate, rheumatoid factor, and antiboidies for Sjogrens, thyroid, and good to throw in myesthania gravis antibody test as well, as this can also mimic BEB and respond to prednisone.
