I am wondering if BEB might not be due to antibodies to respiratory antigens (apparent or asymptomatic) cross reacting with the negative feedback neurotransmitter sites in the basal ganglia causing a lack of spasm inhibition? It is very similar to PANDAS which is spasmotic sneezing due to antibodies to strep doing the same thing. Neuroplasticity and Interactive Metronome Therapy can overcome it. It can become more severe with future antigen exposure and the course can wax and wane. Just a theory. Thoughts?
