Edit
Thanks for sharing your experience, Deanna. Many people do use Emla cream (numbing cream) for their injections. Others use ice before their injections.

Some physicians do say that numbing cream or ice can interfere with how well the injections work but also say that more can be given to make up for this difference. The bottom line appears to be that if your injections are working well for you and you are using the numbing cream or ice...no need to change anything.

That added comfort level that the numbing cream or ice provides, makes the injections much more tolerable for many people.

I've used the numbing cream before, years ago and although things felt numb to me, I didn't really notice a difference in the discomfort level of the medication (Botox) going in...just the needle stick. I stopped using it and most of my injections have been quite tolerable without it. I have had the occasional experience with an injector that actually suggested numbing cream or ice and by the time they were finished, I understood why they had recommended it. :-(

Thanks again, Deanna!
