Edit
Hello, Sean.

I join the chorus in saying that this is not a crazy question—in fact,
it's the kind of question that many of us ask and should ask. Because there are
already known to be medications than can cause or worsen blepharospasm; as well as environmental factors; and perhaps genetic factors and others as well.

The CoQ10-lowering connection seems to be very well-documented.

I found that the Mayo Clinic website presents a list of some underlying
factors for developing side-effects to statins, as well as a list of strategies to try.
The first Mayo suggestion (one that Jill has mentioned) is to stop statins—as a trial.
The second is to switch statins, because one type may cause adverse reactions in a certain person, while the other type of statin won't do that.

I had done only a quick internet search, so maybe didn't get this right. But my impression was that the CoQ10 issue can affect anyone taking statins. Apart from that, there is a particular genetic predisposition to developing certain side effects.

What were your total and individual (LDL and HDL) cholesterol levels at the time statins were prescribed for you. And do you know what your total lipids were at that time?

Maybe in the near future re-discuss statin side effects with your doctor/s? Specifically, are they sure that it is ONLY skeletal muscle that can—as is well-known—be affected with myopathy, pain, weakness, or cramping?

Best of luck!
