Wow. That's a lot of information. Thanks for taking the time to put all that together. :) Thankfully, "The Brain's way of healing" was available as an audio book on Audible. I listened to the first two chapters yesterday. It is very informative and interesting too! I believe in the powers of the brain but have never had a framework to make use of it. Now, with the book and the Neuroplasticity group on FB (I saw your posts there too, very informative) I think I can get started. I think visualising how I was before all these problems took over is a good way to get going. I personally believe that the brain has the most part in my condition. Like light and excessive eye strain, sounds too make my symptoms worse. Even more so in the night when listening to just a few minutes of books could really make me go mad. Dr. Rosenthal has seen other post lasik patients with hyperacuses and told me its an important symptom of the condition he calls "Myofascial Pain Syndrome". I dont meet the criterias of fibromyalgia either. The symptoms that relate to fibromylagia in me are the continuous throbbing sensations in the extremeties and head, chest pains and the occasional nerve pains in the right side of my body. The only fear I had with the Botox was the breathing problems. Now that I am more clear about it I am going to try it soon. Something I wanted to know is if it will reduce the light sensitivity that comes blepharospams. I cannot even open my eyes when I am inside the car. I tried the Fl-41 lenses (I bought them on Thersapecs.com) too but they don't seem to help inside the car. I am ok if i open the windows and look out of the car but I just cant sit inside the car with my eyes open. I have no idea why that happens. Maybe because I am in a darker space inside the car and the light hits us from outside which makes it even more sensitive? And i also noticed that my light sensitivity increases with the intensity of the blepharospasms. Hopefully the Botox helps with that too. I am going to see an Oculoplastic Surgeon in Mumbai for the Botox. I have sent you an email with his details. Do you think his credentials are good enough? I really want to get it done from the best. Not many people specialise in treating Blepharospams here in India. I'm sure you know this already. Are you using preservative free eye drops? Because I've read a lot of material that doesn't recommend normal tear drops. I saw one video where a post lasik patient burnt his cornea or something because of overusing his drops. My personal experiance has been negative on those preservative included drops too. And another thing that might not be related to your problems. My friend in the USA, who introduced me to Dr. Rosenthal, developed Corneal Neuropathy because of using Cyclopentolate on a daily basis for three years to ease his accomodative spasms. Thankfully he told just when I was starting to do the same. Thanks again. Regards, Arun, India. |
