Edit
Jann: You wanted me to get back to you about the thyroid. Settling it helped some but not completely. I found the group on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1425592381040551/ "Neuroplasticity for Blepharospasm" on facebook. They have some very interesting reading in the file section. One is a theory that blepharospasm starts with irritation to peripheral nerves- via dry eye? or dental grinding/TMJ? a vessel pressing? or maybe neck pain? Then the trigeminal negative blink reflex (controlled by dopamine which we are evidently low in)is suppressed so it causes the blink/spasm to "protect" us. Maybe that is why the anti-inflammatory helps. The theory is three things need to be done to recover 1.Settle the initiating irritation 2. Increase dopamine by exercise, diet and enjoyable activity 3.Neuroplasticity therapy which retrains your brain to not spasm. My understanding(may not be correct) is you find tips and activities that quiet the spasm and practice those while staying under the threshold for spasms. Then gradually challenge yourself in trigger situations. There are fascinating tips and reading on the website. It is a closed group but you just request to join and they will be glad to have you.
